The second meeting of the College of Charleston Philosophical Society is THIS THURSDAY at 3:15pm in the department lounge at 14 Glebe Street.
We'll continue planning for future events, and have a group discussion about THIS ARTICLE from 'The Stone', an Opinionator Blog from the New York Times.
It's a short and very accessible article, so please read it online beforehand or bring a printout to the meeting. We can use the flatscreen TV in the lounge to look things up on our laptops and watch videos for the discussion.
Discussion Topic: 'Lady Gaga, Simone de Beauvoir, and Feminism'
Sexualized media, objectification and self-objectification, fame and empowerment, definitions/descriptions of feminism, self-presentation, human nature, subjectivity...
Everyone is welcome whether or not you are a major/minor or have ever taken a philosophy class before. We are always welcome to suggestions and discussion topic ideas. CofC PS wants to know what YOU as a student are interested in!
Remember: Sept 9th @ 3:15pm / 14 Glebe Street
